Pre-School

THE READY TEDDY STORY

Once upon a time (in 1993 to be exact), in a small one room field house, ten children met three mornings a week to paint, sing, read stories, laugh and have fun with their teacher. Soon the little field house was remodeled to include indoor restrooms and made cozy by the addition of curtains, plants, little chairs and furniture. More children and families came and evening classes were added. In a few short months they outgrew the little room.

Parents began to ask, "Why can't we have more room?" "Why can't we have a true playschool?"

During that summer a survey was circulated among the LaGrange Park families. Their interest led to the rental of 920 Barnsdale from the school district. It was at this time Mrs. Goudeau developed the  plan for the Ready Teddy Playschool.

The foresight and support of the Park Director, Board of Commissioners and families steered the Ready Teddy Playschool into a reality. The following year it grew into the Ready Teddy Preschool featuring an academic curriculum.

Each year new challenges are presented and met as the preschool continues to follow a competitive and innovative course. The staff is highly motivated and qualified. Annually required in-service hours are met by attending seminars and conference workshops which insures an acute awareness of the most current curriculums available for preschool.

Popular options for Ready Teddy families are the "Storyteller Program" and many enrichment classes available either before or after class. New in 2009 is "Flex". Flex is a before and after school program offered to assist working parents and parents with conflicting pick up/drop off schedules of siblings.

Ready Teddy moved into the newly constructed Recreation Building in June of 2006 where it currently resides.
