Rededication of Maintenance Facility
COMMUNITY PARK DISTRICT RE-DEDICATES ITS MAINTENANCE FACILITY
On Saturday, June 26th at 10:00 a.m. the Community Park District of La Grange Park will re-dedicate its 845 Barnsdale Road Maintenance Facility under a new name; the Conmy – Healy Maintenance Facility.
Mr. William “Bill” Conmy” and Mr. Martin Healy represent a combined 75 years of park maintenance service to our community. Mr. Conmy’s 39 years of service began in 1958 and ended with his retirement in 1994. Mr. Healy is currently in his 36th year, which began in 1974. Both men have held the responsibility of administering all aspects of the Parks Department while also working in the field. The special honor bestowed Mr. Conmy and Mr. Healy recognizes the extreme dedication they have shown while creating the high standard of building and grounds maintenance residents have appreciated over the years.
The Park Board interest to rename the maintenance facility began when former Park Board Commissioner and Park Board President Bill Yena formally requested that the facility be named the Conmy-Healy Maintenance Facility. In accordance with its Park Naming Policy, the Board appointed an ad hoc group of residents who were asked to make a recommendation for Board consideration prior to taking action.
The ceremony on June 26th will commence at 10:00 a.m. with remarks from Park Board President Louis N Ritten and others prior to unveiling of the new park sign along Barnsdale Road. Refreshments will be served during a social that follows. The public is most welcome to attend.
